Please Turn the Lights Out

Please turn the lights out on courts 1-3 if you are the last person leaving them. If not, the coaches will be forced to take time off their work to avoid wasting club money. It's only another 30 secs.

Tennis Leaders Course Saturday

Marina is running a tennis leaders course between 2-6pm next Saturday, Mar 25, and an extra court will be needed for it. The LTA tennis leaders course is a leadership programme which provides young people with the opportunity to gain invaluable skills for both on and off court. Leaders can then support and work on the coaching programme and holiday camps.

This is a great programme for keeping our teenage club members engaged in tennis and in club life.

Autumn Club Tournament

We have also decided to test this out this by running the club tournament in Sept/Oct as opposed to over the May/June period. The latter time is clearly popular for general play and also includes the summer league matches. Given we have five men's and four ladies teams, this alone contributes signficantly to court demand.

We have pencilled in Saturday, October 14, for finals day and we plan to run a club event in the evening.

Subscription Rates Increase

Following a strong recommendation from our Club Treasurer, the tennis committee has, with some reluctance, agreed to increase tennis subscription rates by 10% (or as near as sensible). The club may seem to have healthy finances but expenses have been increasing substantially, not least for maintenance of the cricket pitch. In addition we need properly to maintain both sets of courts and as a result you will soon learn of our plans to improve the drainage and support of the edges of the block of four, both along the side next to the houses and that along the edge of the cricket pitch, which clearly has inadequate edge support. Once this work is done we will be able to properly maintain the carpet itself, which has been accumulating mud etc that drains down from the edge next to the houses.

Court 4 Floodlights Out Of Action

We have a fault with the floodlights on court 4, the court in the block of four next to the pavilion and the houses. The floodlights supplier can't come and inspect for a couple of weeks so until it's sorted please don't use the lights on that court.

The coaching team will be using courts 1 & 2 and 6 & 7, depending on the time of day, so courts 3 & 5 are for general play during floodlit times. If in doubt, ask a coach.

2023 Wimbledon Ballot

The 2023 Wilmbledon Ticket ballot is now open. If you're a member you should login and opt in before the closing date of ajn 19. If you're not a British Tennis member you can join, free, here: https://www.lta.org.uk/advantage/.You need to affiliate to Brondesbury, which is in the LTA's Middlesex Region.

Unfortunately, the ballot is no longer possible to be held manually at the club and will be conducted digitally with winners informed directly by email.
