Wreath for Philip

Above is the wreath the club donated for Philip's funeral. Below is the email his widow, Jane, sent to Matt Bamford in thanks.

Dear Matt,

I think you must have been behind the beautiful wreath that the tennis club gave for Philip’s funeral. Once again you’ve been so thoughtful and kind. Is it possible to pass on a message from us to all the members when you are next emailing? Since you’re not able to be together it seemed better to email….

Dear Tennis Club players,

We were so touched by your kindness in sending the beautiful wreath for Philip’s funeral on Tuesday, March 16th. The blue and yellow spring colours were perfect.
Thank you too for the thoughtful messages that we’ve received.

For Philip the weekend tennis games at the club were a must and certainly sustained his body and soul. He loved being able to play out in the open air and said it almost felt like the countryside being in such a wide expanse of green and sky. The last year restricted the way you could socialise but in the past he had enjoyed the sociable nature of the club and it suited him well to just turn up rather than organise games with people.
Philip actually cycled to the club and played a game the weekend before he became so ill in December.

These are very sad times for us and we’re missing Philip hugely yet he still seems very present at home with us.

Hoping you can all get back to tennis again very soon.

With our thanks and love,
Jane, Anna and Eva
