Bob Weston's Funeral

The family has informed me that the funeral will be held at Golders Green crematorium on Hoop Lane, on Wednesday, May 8th, at 1pm. We are still in discussion about hosting a wake at the club afterwards and I will keep you informed.

Picture, taken not long ago, supplied, with thanks, by Cathy McGarry.

Bob Weston - Further Info

Bob's daughter, Nicky, has been in touch with me and said that the family is still waiting for a death certificate before the funeral can be arranged, at which point we will be informed of the details. However, those of you who wish to communicate their condolences should send them to his widow, Margaret, at:

29 Lisle Court
Cricklewood Lane

Bob Weston

It is with great sadness I have to pass on the news that Bob has passed away. Many of you will have known Bob as he had been a member for probably longer than anyone else, since, I believe, the mid-1970s. He played in men's teams for many years and continued to play in his later years despite mobility issues. Even then, if he could get to the ball, he'd be likely to outfox you.

I had hoped to have learned by now of the details of his funeral and to whom and where any messages of condolence could be sent. I will, of course, pass that on when I know.

In the meantime, Matt Bamford is procuring a plaque to be attached to the olive tree housing outside the pavilion, which was installed in memory of another past member many of you will remember, Philip Wolmuth. At a suitable time, we will organise a memorial event, when I hope Bob's family can attend.

Court Work Update

The work to repair and support the court edge and replace the fencing on the block of four courts was scheduled to complete by this Friday. It will take a bit longer. The back two courts (6 & 7) should be finished by this Friday and all 7 courts will be usable over the weekend. The work for the front two courts (4 & 5) will start on Monday. This means that court availability next week will be as previously advised.

Given the limitation of courts available for general play can I please remind everyone of the club's court usage rules. These are that if you are playing doubles and people are waiting for a court then you must vacate your court at the end of the set. If you are playing singles then you must immediately offer to play doubles with those waiting.

Thank you for your patience whilst we are making these much needed improvements to our facilities.

Court Availability Next Week

Due to the work being done on the block of four over the coming weeks court availability for members will be reduced. The table below shows at what times and on which days how many courts should be available for general play. The work continues until Friday 8th March.
